I'll admit I'm unsure about posting this, but here goes. It seems @brax – Christopher Street – died just about a year ago. I found out a month or two later, but hadn't really known what to do about it. Now that this whole great MLKSHK show is ending and becoming something else, I just wanted to take a moment and say good-bye. I guess I hope that someone would do the same for me.
I didn't "know" him any better than I know a lot of you; but we shared enough interests/posts/comments that I think we would have been friends in "real" life. I selfishly miss him because I had a wonderful thing to share with him (http://mlkshk.com/p/1BFJE), and now I can't do that.
So Godspeed, man. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to know you better.
For 5 yrs I've seen all posts on mlkshk. Yes, all of them. During the silent lonely hours of my insomnia. So I thought I might just as well help fight the spammers as an admin. Sometimes hundreds a day. There's something about the unclassifiable diversity of images and gifs that reminds me of the interstitials of early mtv. It just tickles the visual part of my brain. So for 5 yrs I've been gathering what I think is 'the best of mlkshk'.
I've downloaded the images and plan to turn them into a site that shows off the wonderful diversity. Of course nobody will visit that site but me. So I guess that shows the loneliness of my having been on mlkshk.
Since my first couple image posts were reposting either from mlkshk or tumblr and since I figure music(and on more than one occasion a heaping helping of salt ;-P) has been my strongest contribution to this place I figure I might as well hark back to my first video link http://mlkshk.com/p/3TXP... and to a rather unusual performance no less, for my First Post reminiscence...
And since whenever I'm presented with the opportunity I tend toward the turgid and melancholy, I'll leave it to the wonderful words all you beautiful people are sharing about how special this place is, was and will be soon...
